Urwald 1/8
The Aletsch forest in Oberwallis, Switzerland includes some of the oldest trees in the country, some more than 1,000 years old. The conservation and protection of the area started much later, in 1933. Since, felling does no longer happen and animals are left alone. Slowly but steadily the forest transforms into an “urwald” an area where we as humans have no impact whatsoever. Straying here, prefereably in the very early morning, makes me sense the purest, timeless beauty of what used to be.
